Or please give me your opinions on socks!

Since the start of the year, the socks I usually wear have been failing me and any sustained toe stop work, especially when I'm pushing a wall on toe stops, leaves the balls of my feet so sore, like friction burns.

Does anyone have any favoured sock brands that work for them?

I favour American Apparel sweat socks (the stripey top ones). They're the best thickness for me. But also just sweat socks (rather than cotton socks) I find are good.

I'm weird and wear tights (because my skates are too small to fit socks in), but having a thin layer between your socks and feet might actually help? In the same way you can tape to avoid blisters i guess?
That's my probably not wonderful input. I used to wear the American apparel socks and would get the same thing, I think it's to do with the feet moving in the sock / boot. :whee:

I feel as socks makes my feet slide inside of the skates. Also, my skates are pretty tight. I skate barefooted. It makes my skates smell but I feel closer to them that way.

Perhaps you need to try lacing your skates differently Max? Sounds like you might need less movement around the ball of your foot.

Ahh, I've always wondered what your cute little stripey socks are! Will give them a try.

I've tried bare feet before and I just can't get on with it, too squeaky.

:heart2:

I wish I felt this way about my skates. We grudgingly co-exist rather than work in harmony at the moment.

So many different laces. CIA code lacing!

I do lace one skate differently to stop arch pain, and thinking about it, that foot definitely hurts more at the ball. Maybe I need to find some compromise so it keeps it tighter on the ball without hurting my arch.
